Public changing tables are one of those things we’d rather not think about too much.
A lightweight changing mat gives you a clean surface for diaper changes in the car, at a restaurant or wherever you happen to find yourself.
Look for something that folds down small and can be wiped clean easily.

One of our favourite diaper-bag additions.
A wet bag is perfect for dirty clothes, wet bibs, muslin cloths or anything else that has experienced a little too much of motherhood.

Muslin Cloths
If you have a baby, you will eventually discover that muslin cloths are basically the Swiss Army knife of parenting.
Use one for:
- Spit-up
- Drool
- Messes
- A makeshift burp cloth
- Covering a surface

Pack something simple and comfortable — preferably an outfit that’s easy to get on and off when you’re dealing with a diaper situation that has gone completely off-script.
Keep it rolled up in a small pouch so it stays clean.
And remember to replace it after you use it.
We’ve all been there: emergency outfit comes out of the bag, laundry happens, and somehow the diaper bag is left outfit-less for the next three months.
Feeding Supplies
What you need here depends entirely on your baby’s age and how you feed them.
For bottle-fed babies, bring:
- A bottle
- Enough milk/formula for the outing
- Bottle storage
- Burp cloth
If you’re using bottles, we’re big fans of glass where practical.

One is fine.

A few essentials will do.
Three blankets.
One versatile muslin or lightweight blanket is usually enough.
Every possible feeding accessory.
Pack for the outing you’re actually taking.
The goal is to be prepared — not to develop upper-body strength from carrying your diaper bag.
